Traveling is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Seeing new sights through designer sunglasses, dancing in exotic nightclubs in your Coogi clothes, and tasting diverse cuisines by the waterfront are some of the exciting aspects of travel. For people with delicate compositions, these same adventures can sometimes result in unpleasant physical experiences. Altitude sickness, food poisoning and motion sickness are challenges that some travelers experience when journeying to new locations.

Avoiding Food Poisoning While Traveling

If you’re traveling to a far-off destination, take some precautions regarding the food and water. The locals may be eating and drinking at local restaurants with no symptoms whatsoever. Keep in mind, though, that the human body adjusts over time to certain environmental invaders and bacteria. The advice of not drinking the potentially contaminated local water is a wise one when traveling to new, foreign destinations. What may be healthy for a local resident may make you sick. Buy bottled water and avoid salads and other freshly rinsed, uncooked foods.

Air Sickness and Motion Sickness

Climbing the Bolivian mountains in your Nikes and sailing in the Galapagos in your Coogi clothes may have you feeling perfectly at home until you are hit with a bout of air sickness in the mountains or motion sickness on a boat. Avoid eating heavy foods and drinking alcohol before going on such excursions. Pack over-the-counter motion sickness medication. Keep your distance from others experiencing altitude or motion sickness. Watching someone experience motion sickness can actually accelerate your own reaction.

With a few precautions, traveling to exciting destinations can be a rejuvenating experience, even for those with a delicate composition.
